R.I.P. Amy Winehouse

I feel like a good friend has died.  Amy Winehouse's music will live on for all time as a testament to her genius.   She had the pipes, the emotion, the look, and the artistry.  How I wish I had seen her in concert.  Friends, go see your favorite musicians live while you have the chance.  Genius and madness are closely intertwined

  1. Agreed. "Back to Black" has been on repeat all day. TMZ has an interesting post about stars passing away at the ripe age of 27.

  2. "Back to Black" is a pure soulful, bluesy, raw emotional song wrapped up in a mystical beat, and delivered straight to us mere mortals as a gift from greatness/god/genius.

    What a mess we made...

  4. It's weird but the first thing I thought of when I saw her exact age (I knew she was in her 20's) was the trilogy of Morrison, Joplin and Hendrix.

  5. Crap, I forgot about Cobain. I just remembered how close together the 3 deaths I mentioned were.

  6. Amy's music meant so much to me, personally, I am definitely grieving this night. I never grieved for Kurt's Cobain. He was a pouter, and I like Hole much better than Nirvana. Kurt was a baby and a coward. Now Jim Morrison... I went all the way to Paris to visit his grave. Mamma Cass and Judy Garland both major losses, and of course the two wrong Beatles are still treading this mortal coil.

  7. Hey Babs, its me. Di, a woman of mystery. How the hell are you? I have been away on vacation and just found out about Amy's passing by your blog posting. She was a wonderful, tormented soul. And you are right, her music will live on forever!

  8. Hey Di! Just fine thanks. Just got home from the movie "Horrible Bosses." Now I can really relate. Yes, so sad about Amy. A very strange news weekend. Amy, Norway, and mystery lady, I received a mystery package. Plus I bought a Ouija board. Thanks for commenting!!
