  1. ALWAYS! I became a member as soon as I became a faculty member.

  2. I knew there was something about you, beside your smashing fashion sense, and wicked sense of humor, that I really liked. 100% of Poynter's Faculty Librarians belong to UFF.

  3. I told Kay that as soon as she is 'officially faculty' (even though she's been performing the duties since last August), she needs to join UFF. She said she plans to do that.

You know there are a few who will never join. Her Hairiness being the first to come to mind...

  4. We are members of the bargaining unit, unlike COM faculty, and the coverage UFF offer us is great and powerful. Why our participation is so low defies comprehension. Rhetoric and tea party tactics need to be exposed for what they are...'psych' and not based in reality. The raises and paid leaves bargained on our behalf far exceed the cost of dues. I'm on it like white on rice. 'Taint no excuse for not joining.

  5. So always look for the union label ...

Unions raise all boats, union and un-union alike.

"Her Hairiness"?! "Wicked sense of humor" is right!

  6. Why do you think that we've gotten those small raises each year when the USPS people have gotten NOTHING for 5 years now? That's a disgrace. USPS is under AFSCME which is part of the AFL-CIO. I don't understand why they can't seem
to get a better deal for the USPS.

And you're right, Kay, everybody benefits whether they belong or not.
